Curl Evolution is a curly hair salon on Long Island with locations in Babylon and Dix Hills. We cut, color and care for curls — that is the whole business. Not curls alongside everything else, just curls.
Why a curl-only salon exists
Most people with curly hair have a version of the same story: years of stylists who cut it wet like straight hair, products recommended by someone who has never had to manage a curl pattern, and a slow conclusion that their hair is simply difficult.
It usually isn't. It has usually just been handled by people trained on a different kind of hair. Curls need dry cutting, curl-by-curl shaping, and a routine built around the specific way a coiled strand holds and loses moisture. That's a genuine specialty, and it's what our stylists do all day.
Why we started making our own products
After enough years behind the chair, a pattern became hard to ignore. Clients would leave with beautiful curls and come back three weeks later frustrated, because the routine we'd sent them home with required five bottles and twenty minutes they didn't have.
So we made Juicy Curls — a sulfate-free cleanser that doesn't strip, a deep treatment worth the step, and a 3-in-1 styler that replaces the leave-in, cream and gel most people were layering anyway. Every formula was tested on real heads of hair in our chairs before it went near a label.
What we stock, and why
Alongside our own line we carry Ouidad and Innersense. We don't carry a brand because a rep offered good margins. We carry it because it works on our clients' hair and we'd use it ourselves.
